Highly thermostable DNA polymerase from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus (half-life > 40 min at 95 °C)
Activities: Polymerase activity in direction 5’→3′ (synthesis of DNA), exonuclease activity in direction 5’→3′ (required for use in PCR with hydrolysis probes, e.g. TaqMan™ probes) and 5′ flap activity. No detectable exonuclease activity in the direction 3’→5′ (proofreading).
